Mitchel Cottenoir

Dr. Mitchel Cottenoir is the Director of University Accreditation and Assessment Management Systems in the Office of Assessment and Accreditation at the University of North Carolina at Charlotte.  He provides leadership and organizational support for producing university compliance reports for institutional accreditation.  Dr. Cottenoir collaborates with colleagues to manage the software utilized for the collection of college and program reports. He co-chairs the University of North Carolina Systems Assessment and Accreditation Council.  

Dr. Cottenoir received his Ed.D. in Higher Education from Texas Tech University. His research focuses on the use of assessment data to improve course and program student learning and faculty development. Previously, Dr. Cottenoir served as a chemistry faculty member at South Plains College, Director of Institutional Effectiveness, SACSCOC Liaison, and Director of the Center for Teaching and Learning at Wingate University. He has co-authored multiple articles and given more than 15 presentations at 7 national, regional, and local conferences.
